Some exciting news!

Hey guys!

Today I just have a quick post to let you in on some very exciting news. I haven't posted anything about this until now because I only found out for sure today and I didn't want to say anything until I was absolutely sure.

I'm starting a 3 day mani/pedi course tomorrow!! So in a few days I will be a professional nail technician! How cool is that?! I'm very excited but at the same time I'm pretty nervous. Anyone have any advice for me?

Anyways I'll keep you guys up-to-date about the whole thing but I might not be able to post much for the next few days.

Wish me luck! :)

Review & Swatches - Essie A French Affair Collection

Hey guys!

Today I have for you my first swatches and review of an Essie Collection!

Essie has always been available at my local Shopper's stores but it was always a really limited selection of mostly pinks and reds so I never bothered. But now that Essie is breaking into the drugstore market, all of my local Shopper's stores have new Essie displays full of new and pretty colours! I've already bought a number of the permanent colours but I picked up this collection when there was a sale on Essie polishes.

Hey guys!

I'm so excited to announce that this evening I clicked over the 500 follower mark! I just want to take a minute to thank each and every one of you for your continued support of me and my blog, I really do appreciate all of you.

As a thank you I will be hosting a HUGE giveaway that will include over $200 worth of nail polish prizes!

Unfortunately, right now I'm still waiting on a couple of packages from 2 companies who are supporting this giveaway but I do except those to arrive sometime this coming week. I would just go ahead and post the giveaway now with stock images of the prizes I'm waiting on but I'm actually not sure what I'm waiting on! I didn't pick the prizes from 2 of these companies, they were just generous enough to send me whatever they could.

Anyways, your patience will definitely pay off and while I'm waiting on those packages, you can check out the sneak peak photo that I posted last week of some of the prizes that will be given away:

Thanks again to all of you for your support and I can't wait to award one of you with all of these amazing prizes! :)

Review & Swatches - China Glaze Island Escape Collection

Hey guys!

Today I have for you the China Glaze Island Escape Collection for Summer 2011.
I wasn't expecting to have these to show you quite yet but I ran to Chatter's yesterday for a new OPI Alpine Snow as I was running low and I use it so often and to my surprise, I noticed a full display for this collection! I of course picked up all of them so, here they are!
(By the way, once I spotted these I completely forgot the reason I was there in the first place and I ended up forgetting to get my bottle of Alpine Snow, haha.)

Review & Swatches - Orly Precious Collection

Hey guys.

Today I have a post for you that has been sitting stagnant in my blogger posts as a "draft" for a couple of weeks now. I don't remember why I didn't post it when I first wrote it or why I forgot about it afterwards but yesterday when I received an Orly package for my giveaway I suddenly remembered that I hadn't posted swatches of this collection.

So anyways, better late than never! Here's my review and swatches of the Orly Precious Collection for Spring 2011.

YouTube Tutorials?

Hey guys!

Just a quick post today to ask you guys what you think about me starting to do nail tutorials on YouTube?

I've been told quite a bit that I should start to do tutorials to compliment my blog and I've only recently started to consider it. I'm still not entirely sold on it but if I find out that it's something that you guys would enjoy, I might at least give it a try to see how I feel about it.

So, what do you guys think? Would you like to see tutorials of any of my nail art? Or are the photos enough for you?

Thanks for your feedback!

Review & Comparisons - Cuticle Creams

Hey guys!

Today I have a post that I have been meaning to do for quite some time now - a comparison post of 3 commonly used cuticle creams. I get asked a lot how I keep my cuticles in such good shape and I feel like I owe a lot of credit to one of these balms (you'll find out which one when you read the review and comparisons).

Nails of the Day - Neon Zebra Print

Hey guys!

How is everyone? I had an absolutely awesome Sunday!

You see, I had an exam Saturday that I was very concerned about so I spent all week studying my ass off. After my exam I was both mentally and physically exhausted so I didn't do much besides sleep.

So on Sunday, I woke up late and had a very lazy day. There was a Home Alone marathon on TV so the bf and I laid down all day, watched all three Home Alone films (I don't include Home Alone 4 in the movie category because it's just so awful), made toutons (mmm) and just basically lazed about. I don't have any exams or papers due this coming week so I was able to do this without feeling guilty about it. It was awesome!

When I finally decided to actually do something productive, I did my nails. However, I was still in a lazy mood so I only did a simply animal print design.

Products:
China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat
China Glaze - Orange Knockout (neon orange)
China Glaze - Celtic Sun (neon yellow)
OPI - Black Onyx (zebra stripes)
Nicole by OPI - Top of My World (glitter top coat)
Seche Vite Top Coat

I hope all of you also had a good Sunday!

Review & Swatches - Nicole by OPI Justin Bieber Collection: Part 3

Hey guys!

I know what you're thinking, I thought we were done with the Bieber polishes? Well apparently not!

I was browsing one of my local Shopper's a few nights ago and I noticed some polishes with the little Bieber tags on them that I hadn't seen before. At first I thought that maybe the tags had been slapped on some random colours to make it seem like they're Bieber inspired colours but after checking out the names of the polishes, I realized that wasn't the case and that they were actually part of the Bieber line.

These 7 caught my eye more than both of the other sets so I ended up getting all of them.

From what I have heard/read, these 7 are exclusive to international consumers.

You can check out my review and swatches of 11 of the other shades here and here.

Swatches - Sally Hansen HD Polishes (over black)

Hey all!

So recently Rebecca from rebeccalikesnails did a post using Sally Hansen HD in Byte over black and it was absolutely stunning. Knowing that I owned Byte along with a bunch of the other HD polishes, I immediately got out a nail wheel are starting swatching all of them over black. Some of them aren't as impressive but a lot of them really stand out on a black base.

Review & Swatches - Revlon Romantic Collection Polishes

Hey guys.

I was browsing Lawton's a few days ago looking for the Milani Rockstar Heavy Glitter Collection (to no avail) when I noticed a new Revlon collection. It's a small collection with 3 polishes. a few new lip balms (which actually look really nice but they were too expensive for my taste), a cream eyeshadow quad and a couple of new emery boards to match the theme of the collection.

At first glance the polish colours didn't look too interesting but once I picked up the bottles and took a closer look, I knew they were coming home with me.

Review - Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips

Hey guys!

Last week I showed you my manicure with the new Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strips in the design Laced Up. I told you that I would leave them on for as long as possible and then write up a detailed review on them, so here it is.

I didn't end up being able to leave them on for 10 days as my nails were just getting too long and they were annoying me to no end. Plus, I'm used to doing my nails twice a week and even then I get bored with designs so you can imagine that I was getting antsy to remove these after having them on for 8 days.

Before we move on to the review, here's another look at Day 1 of this mani:

Warning: I was very detailed in my review, so this post is very long but if you're interested in this product, I think it's worthwhile to read the whole post.

Keep reading for the review and photos of how the design held up over 8 days!

Review & Swatches - Finger Paints Palette of Petals Collection

Hey guys!

Today I have the recently released Finger Paints Palette of Petals Collection to show you guys. This is actually my first time trying the Finger Paints brand and I have to say, a lot of it has to do with the super cute rings that came with these polishes. However, now that I've tried these polishes, I'm interested to try more from this brand.

St. Patrick's Day Nail Art Series - Green & Gold Glitter

Hey guys!

Sorry I haven't been around much lately but I've been super busy with school. I have an exam tomorrow, a paper due tomorrow, and a paper due on Friday so I've been working my ass off this past week.

I did manage to take a break tonight to do my nails and even though I wasn't planning on doing a St. Patrick's Day series, I got kind of excited when I started to go through all of my green polishes so I think I am going to go ahead with a series.

Also, I removed my Sally Hansen strips today which meant that they were on for 8 days and I'm still working on my review for those so keep an eye out.

In the meantime, here's the first in my St. Patrick's Day designs:

Products:
China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat
Icing - Irish Gold (base for all nails except ring fingers)
Deborah Lippmann - Boom Boom Pow (over Irish Gold and base colour for ring fingers)
China Glaze - Jolly Holly (clover)
Seche Vite Top Coat

Illamasqua & AllYouDesire Competition - I won!

Hey guys!

Just a quick post today to give you the exciting news that I was the winner of the Illamasqua & AllYouDesire Competition! :D

As the winner, I am getting 4 Illamasqua Nail Varnishes in the colours: Grab, Scorn, Throb and Gamma which is a new colour being released with the Spring/Summer 2011 Toxic Nature Collection.

I'm super excited about winning as I really haven't ever won anything before! On top of that, I don't own any Illamasqua products and have wanted to try their nail varnishes for a while now but they're not available in my area. I have read some very good things about Illamasqua polish so I'm itching to try them and can't wait for that package to arrive at my door!
And of course, expect swatches when they arrive!

That's it for now, have a good Saturday everyone!

Nails of the Day - Sally Hansen Salon Effects - Laced Up

Hey guys!

Last week while I was at Wal-Mart I noticed a display of the new Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips and although I'm not really a fan of nail decals, I have been reading some really great things about these throughout the nail blogger community so I decided to give them a shot. There were a bunch to choose from but I decided to go with this one called Laced Up as it's a design that I know I wouldn't be able to create using free hand nail art.

I'm going to wait until I remove these to do a full review of them but as of right now, I'm super impressed!

So, onto the mani:

Products:
Salon Hansen Salon Effects - Laced Up
Seche Vite Top Coat

P.S. You may have noticed the watermark on my image. I'm not happy that I've had to start doing this as I really dislike the look of watermarks but I have been seeing many of my photos popping up on tumblr and other photo sharing sites without giving me any credit/a link back to my site. I don't appreciate this as I spend a lot of time creating and executing my designs and I would at least like to be credited for my work.
For now the watermarks will only be on photos of my nail art, not on my swatch photos and hopefully there will be no need to put them on swatch photos in the future.

P.P.S. My Wet 'n' Wild Giveaway is now closed! I will announce the winner within the next couple of days. Good luck everyone! :)

Anyways, have a good day everyone! And remember to look out for my full review of this product!

Review & Swatches - Nicole by OPI Justin Bieber Collection: Part 2

Hey guys!

As some of you might know, Nicole by OPI released 7 more shades with the Justin Bieber Collection and I recently came across them at Wal-Mart. I already reviewed and swatched 6 of the first shades here so be sure to check those out as well.
As I mentioned in that post, I forgot to purchase one of the shades at the time and promised to go back and get it to swatch/review it so I have included that one in with these new shades as well.

I only picked up 4 of the 7 new shades as the other ones looked a little too ordinary for me. Wait, actually, that's a lie! I did like one of the shades that I didn't get called Not a Gold Bigger but I didn't get it because it looked very similar to The Next CEO from the Nicole by OPI Liquid Metals Collection which I swatched/reviewed here. The other colours that I didn't pick up are Red-y to Runaway Love and I'm a Belieber.
