Hey!
Getting back into the swing of things, today I'm super excited to be sharing with you the KBShimmer Blogger Collaboration Collection for Winter 2013! I was lucky enough to be a part of this collection alongside 10 other wonderful bloggers and I've got to say, I think we came up with a pretty amazing collection of polishes.
Keep on reading for swatches and my thoughts on each shade!
Green Hex & Glam is my collaboration shade! It was originally inspired by my (then) favourite KBShimmer polish I Got A Crush On Blue. Green Hex & Glam is a deep emerald green jelly base packed with different sizes of holographic hex glitters. Much like I Got A Crush On Blue, Green Hex & Glam has quite a lot of depth to it. The formula was great - it glides really easily onto the nail. I did store the bottle upside down for a few minutes before applying so that all of the larger hex pieces would redistribute. I still had to fish a couple of the bigger pieces out, but it's totally worth it in my opinion. My photos show three easy coats.

Christmas Now is a collaboration with Crystal's Crazy Combos. It's a green jelly base packed with multicoloured square and circle glitters as well as gold star glitter. It's very glitter packed so I didn't have to do any fishing with the brush to get a good amount of glitter with each coat. They do tend to stick together though so I did have to use my brush to move some around for better distribution. My swatch shows three coats.
I'd Rather Be With Blue is a collaboration with Cosmetic Sanctuary. It is a bright sky blue with iridescent shimmer and dries to a matte finish. I love the addition of a matte finish polish to this collection. The formula was great and I've shown three coats below.
Merry Pinkmas is a collaboration with Let Them Have Polish. It's a bubblegum pink jelly base packed with lots of glitter. Every year Cris from LTHP does pink themed holiday manicures and so this polish was inspired by that. It's very fun and surprisingly festive despite being pink! The formula was great on this one as well, but the glitters do tend to stick together so I had to do a little placing with my brush. Three coats is what I used for my swatch.
Plum Tuckered Out is a collaboration with Pointless Cafe. It's a deep plum purple base with lots of bright blue iridescent shimmer. The formula was great and I found three coats provided the best coverage.
I Only Have Ice For You is a collaboration with Chalkboard Nails. It's a glitter top coat that features lots of holo sparkle as well as delicate white gold flakes. It's definitely the most versatile shade from the collection because you can add it over pretty much any base colour for an instant wintery look. For my swatch I've shown it over KBShimmer Plum Tuckered Out. The formula was great to work with and I found that just one coat added the perfect amount of glitter coverage.
Toast-ess With the Mostest is a collaboration with Peachy Polish. It's a glitter topper that includes pink, silver and gold glitters in different shapes and sizes. It's inspired by a champagne toast and I can really see that inspiration here! I've shown it over KBShimmer Plum Tuckered Out, but I think it works even better over lighter base colours. This one is super glitter packed so I only needed one coat to get the glitter coverage you see below!
Sand In My Stocking is a collaboration with The PolishAholic. It's a clear based glitter topper that features gold, blue, orange, white, tan and brown glitters. Jen from The PolishAholic loves in California so this polish is actually inspired by her making snowmen out of sand! That's hilarious to me because where I live, we get SO much snow every year. Jen, you can have some of ours so that you can make a proper snowman, haha! Anyways, I think this polish is pretty awesome and I really love the inspiration behind it. I've shown it over KBShimmer I'd Rather Be With Blue. This is another that's super glitter packed so one coat was all I needed.
Snow Much Fun is a collaboration with Manicurator. It's an icy blue jelly base packed with lots of blue and white glitters in various shapes and sizes, including white snowflake glitters! They're pretty cute, but I did have some trouble getting them onto the brush. And they don't lie totally flat so be weary of that if you have curved nails like my own. Despite that, I absolutely love this polish and it's a clear favourite for me. The formula was easy to work with and I found three coats provided the best coverage.
Strung Out is a collaboration with Candy Coated Tips. It features a black jelly base with lots of circle glitters in various colours and sizes as well as some holo microglitter. I've shown it on its own at three coats here, but it would most likely be better layered over a black base polish.
Will Yule Marry Me? is a collaboration with The Nail Network. It's a dusty greyed navy base with lots of silver glitter in various shapes and sizes. Very pretty! The formula was great and I've shown two coats for my swatch.
Overall, I absolutely love this collection and I'm so happy that I was able to be a part of it. I tend to love pretty much everything that KBShimmer puts out, but I especially love when companies and bloggers come together to create unique polishes. My favourite is (not surprisingly) my own collaboration, but my other top picks would have to be Christmas Now, Merry Pinkmas and Snow Much Fun. I love them all though so it's hard to choose favourites!

ReplyDeleteHi Kayla. I'm so pleased to have found your blog. First off, congratulations on your marriage. I hope you have many happy years together. Secondly, thanks for the YT video on proper nail application. Now all I need to do is practice. A lot! And finally, the tip you give in your FAQs about using an angled brush for polish clean up is inspired. I've been using Q Tips which aren't bad, but aren't great either. Looking forward to lots of great posts in the future.
ReplyDeleteBTW, that list of your polish collection had my jaw on the floor. LOL!
