Hey guys!
I was planning on spending the whole weekend lazing around the house, swatching and cataloguing polishes, but I got invited to supper tonight and thus had to come up with an impromptu nail design!
Since I was lacking both time and creativity, I decided to redo a manicure that I really loved from the 31 Day Challenge - my day 5 ikat print design. I changed the colours up this time and went with a nude base and a bright purple accent.
Some people aren't sure what ikat print even is (I know I had no idea until I started seeing it pop up in nail art and subsequently googled it), so just google ikat print in the image search and you'll see that it's just a fashionable print with a funny name. It comes in many varieties and styles, but I like this one the most for nail art purposes.
The base here is OPI Did You Ear About Van Gogh? and the accent of bright purple is done using Illamasqua Stance. I used my trusty It's So Easy Stripers in Black and White to create the rest of the detailing.
I really love how graphic this print is, and I think these colours make a really great combination! To boot, this mani ridiculously easy it is to do. I'll definitely have to do a tutorial soon.
Thanks for looking!
Love the colours here :) To do this do you just do rough brush strokes because it looks kinda complicated and I want to try it : )

ReplyDeleteAmazing!! So now I just saw a couple of tutorials on YT, and I see that theres a big difference in the results if a very thin brush is used - like your designs. I think its way cooler whith the very very very thin brush strokes :-)
