Tropical Floral Nail Art

Hey everyone!

Before I get to today's nail art, I want to point out my upgraded header! I'm always trying to come up with ways to improve NbKS, and I think this streamlined header is a good addition to the site. What do you think?

Back to today's post. So, I've been very into floral nails lately. Maybe it's the upcoming summer season, or maybe it's just a kick I'm on right now. Either way, one of the results is this tropical floral mani that I did last night.

I alternated between Sinful Colors Snow Me White and Lime Crime Crema de Limon as the base colours for this mani. My thumb (not shown), middle and pinky nails all started with the white base, while my index and ring nails each started with the yellow. Then, I used a striping brush and added horizontal stripes to each nail using the opposite colour that I used for the base. So, the yellow nails got white stripes and the white stripes got yellow stripes. Pretty simple concept.

Although I will admit, freehand horizontal stripes are probably the nail art skill I feel I'm the worst at. I use the technique where I roll my finger and just let the brush do the work, but I still have to go back and do a lot of correcting after painting the initial stripes. It's especially frustrating using my non-dominant hand!

Anyways, after the stripes were added (and corrected to my liking), I added the same freeform flowers that you saw in my recent Summer Floral mani. This time I used China Glaze Escaping Reality from the Cirque du Soleil Collection. This polish has an almost jelly like look on the first coat, so some areas of the flowers look almost transparent, which I think is a pretty cool effect. For the finishing touch I added a few white dots to the middle of the flowers using just the tip of my nail art brush.

Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by!
