My Nail Polish Storage/Setup!

Good afternoon!

I managed to complete my reorganization project over the weekend, so as promised, I've taken some photos of my updated setup!

Some of you might remember my original setup from when I moved a few months ago, but I was weary of having my melmers stacked three high, just because they're so heavy with all of the nail polish in them. So, I wanted to take them down to stacks of two, but still have everything look clean and organized.

On top of that, Michael's recently had a pretty good sale on their storage units, so although I didn't actually need to expand, I decided to pick up two more melmer units for future expansion. That meant that altogether, I would have eight melmers and thus need space for four stacks of two. In order to fit all of those together, I had to do some reorganizing of my entire polish room, and I'm really happy with the way everything came together!

I hope you guys enjoyed seeing my polish space!

How do you store your polish?

Normally it's just my own nails that I do here but I have had a few clients come over! Most times I bring my supplies to client's homes and do their nails there, though.

I just bought melmers myself, and super excited since now I can see my polish better. I used to have it all in shoeboxes.

I am SO jealous though on the animal print you placed on the front. I LOVE animal print!

I love it! What do you use on the front to cover the drawers? I like how you have them decorated. Mine are still plain white.

It's just scrapbook paper from Michael's! I posted about the process a while ago (https://kaylashevonne.com/2011/08/nail-polish-storage-newly-decorated.html) and there's a link to a tutorial in that post!

Wow. Just wow. My pathetic set up is pretty limited, considering the apartment I share with my boyfriend is about 350 square feet. I have one Helmer sitting next to an arm chair, and all the polish work I do is either on top of that, or on a lap desk if there's stamping involved. I dream of the day I can have my own room/nook to really get busy with the polish.

I have another question for you concerning how you do your nails. Do you find yourself listening to music, watching TV, or sort of multi-tasking at all? Or is it a full-focused effort solely dedicated to your nails?

I always have either music playing or the TV on when I'm doing my nails!

That looks really nice! I may be buying my first Melmer soon. My two sets of small three-drawer organizers has four drawers filled with polish and two drawers with supplies. One Melmer should hold twice as much, I am hoping.

Thanks! And for reference, one melmer drawers can hold 81 regular sized bottles of polish (such as China Glaze or OPI). That should give you some idea of how much you can fit!

Thank you for the number of bottles that would fit. Based on other peoples' number of bottles & number of Melmers, I had thought it could hold 300 bottles, 100 per drawer, but it holds about 240 based on 81 per drawer. That's still good for me, though. I have about 110 bottles plus a few backup/duplicate bottles. The Melmer will double my space for bottles! Yay! Thanks so much again for letting me know how many bottles it holds.

looks so pretty kayla :) i have 4 helmers in my closet and i do my nails in my living room, keeping all my tools in a makeup bag to take where i need it. i would prefer a desk but can't fit one in my room right now. i love the paper you put on the front of your drawers, very fun!

Looks great. I always really liked your corner desk however as it felt like you had everything within arms reach. However no way to do another's nails at the corner desk if you wanted to. Now you can pull out this little desk. I am so jealous - me with not even enough space for clothing living in a house that has only 2 drawers in the kitchen and an outlet in the bathroom (only one) that is part of the light fixture over the sink! It's lacking in lots of things here - but mostly space. I am going to get rid of some furniture this summer and purge a ton of stuff. But even at that, I won't have room for a 'set up' for nails. My polishes will still be in plastic shoe boxes loaded into two different pieces of furniture and some in the linen closet. Who needs sheets when you have polish to store?

That is such an awesome setup! I recently (finally) got three melmers and am definitely going to need at least one more. Hubby and I went to Michael's today and got a whole bunch of scrapbook paper to decorate them. There were so many great designs that I got nine different ones and am going to do a whole hodgepodge kind of (non)theme. Hopefully it looks ok; yours look great!

That's a great storage system unit. It looks cool and lovely. I also love nail polishes and other beauty products. This kind of storage is perfect for me. I think I should get one for myself as well.
