Review & Swatches - Layla Magneffect Polish

Hey guys!

In my recent drugstore haul post I showed you that I purchased one of the new Magneffect polishes by the brand Layla and many of you seemed interested in this polish, so today I have review and swatches of it for you.

This is the first magnetic polish that I've tried but I'm sure it's not going to be my last because something tells me that magnetic effect polishes are going to be the next big trend and that they're going to replace the crackle trend.

Keep reading for the review and swatches!

The formula of this was a little thick but it wasn't so thick that it was difficult to work with. In fact, this could be a one-coat polish but I ended up using two coats in my swatch just to make sure there was complete coverage.

However, if you're using a magnetic polish for the first time, you can do one coat first and test out the magnet to see if you're using it properly and then you can add another coat (which will cover up the lines created by the magnet in the first coat) and then try the magnet again! I do like this forgiving aspect of this polish because new users can test out the effect without having to remove their mani a couple of times to get it right.

I actually found the magnet really easy to use and I had no troubles with it on my first try. The magnet is on top of the cap so you can take the time to screw the cap back on but be quick so that the polish doesn't dry too much before you start with the magnet.

I've only showed you one direction to use the magnet (diagonal) but you can experiment with it and try out horizontal and vertical directions as well.

My one and really my only problem with this polish is the price. This 10ml bottle ran me $15.99 at a Canadian drugstore and although it's fun and definitely interesting, I don't think I would purchase another one at this price. If they were cheaper, I would be all over the other available colours though.

So what do you guys think? Have you tried any magnetic polishes before? Any from this brand? Do you think they're going to be the next big trend in nail polish?
