Storage Solution - Nail Wheels: An Update

Hey guys!

You might remember a couple of days that I posted a new storage solution to my mess of nail wheels. At the time however, I only had enough supplies to complete one group of wheels. Well, I went out yesterday and picked up enough supplies for the rest of my wheels and now I'm starting the long task of completing this project.

So here's what I'm starting with:

And I'll update this post with photos when I finish the entire project. :)

Review & Swatches - FingerPaints Peace, Love & Color Collection

Hey guys!

I went to Sally's today to look for a good set of hair extensions and I came home with a little more than that. At first I figured that I would pass on this collection and get it at a later date because I really did want hair extensions first and foremost but then I was reminded that Sally's nail polish sale of buy 2 get 1 free is going to be over in a few days so I gave in and got the collection along with my hair extensions. I guess it's better to have gotten them now and only pay for 4 of the 6 than to wait and pay full price for all 6!

Anyways, enough rambling, onto the review/swatches.

Nails of the Day - Brazilian Flag

Hey guys!

About a week ago my blog/nail art was highlighted on a Brazilian beauty blog (www.bymarina.com.br) and since then I have gained a number of Brazilian viewers! I thought that it would be nice to welcome my new readers and what better way to do that then to dedicate a nail art design to you all?
So, here it is - the Brazilian flag! Hope you like it!

Review & Swatches - Joe Fresh Spring 2011 Polish: Twilight

Hey guys!

Yesterday David (the bf) and I were at Dominion picking up a few groceries and as always, before we left I just had to drop by the beauty section to see if there was anything new. I didn't see anything special but on our way out of the beauty department I spotted a little bin of Joe Fresh nail polishes. I've known about these polishes for a while now but I never really had any interest in trying them. Until now.

I sorted through the bin out of curiosity and happened to spot what looked like a flakie polish. At first I thought no way, Joe Fresh definitely doesn't have a flakie polish. But sure enough, it was a full-blown flakie-fest!

This polish is called Twilight and after doing a little googling, I've discovered that it was actually released with the Spring 2011 collection. It definitely doesn't seem like a Spring polish to me, although I'm not bothered since I basically ignore season-based manicures. However this does feel a little out of place among the other season-friendly pastels of Spring.

Nonetheless, I'm VERY happy to add another flakie polish to my collection, especially an affordable one!

Swatches - CND Effects Polishes

Hey guys!

So now that I'm allowed to shop in professional beauty supply stores, I've started to purchase some nail polish brands that up until now I haven't had the chance to try, and one of those brands is CND (Creative Nail Design). I've read some pretty cool things about their Effects line of polishes so I purchased a few of those last week.

I did swatch them alone for you but decided not to post the photos because some of them are really sheer and it's hard to even see them. However, the magic happens when you layer these with other shades of polish so that's really what matters. Below I've layered them over a black creme (OPI Black Onyx) although I also want to give them a try over different, brighter colours as well as some different finishes (glitter, shimmer, foil, etc). I'll definitely do more experimenting later.

But for now, the shades I have to show you are:

Crimson Sparkle, Jade Sparkle, Raspberry Sparkle, Sapphire Sparkle, Amethyst Sparkle

Storage Solution - Nail Wheels

Hey guys!

Today I had planned on working on an updated makeup and nail polish collection post but I got distracted when I got to one of my drawers and suddenly had a storage epiphany!

Here's the drawer I'm talking about:

It's full of all of my nails wheels (swatch wheels, practice wheels, blank wheels) and it's gotten to a point where I'm just annoyed by the whole drawer. As of right now, the only organization happening is that my swatch wheels are separated by brand and held together by hair bands. I find this really frustrating when I'm looking for a specific colour because I have to take the hair band off of the set and then there's just a heap of wheels around me. So, for a while now I have been trying to come up with some way that I could keep the wheels organized yet still separated by brand and today I finally came up with an idea!

I quickly drove to Staples and Michael's looking for the supplies I needed and now I'm going to walk you guys through my plan!

Review & Swatches - Glitter Gal Australia Holographic Polish

Hey guys!

Today I have a polish to show you from the Australia-based company Glitter Gal. I had read a few things about their holographic polishes throughout the nail blogging community and I was fortunate enough to be sent this polish for review.

Glitter Gal offers 15 holographic shades as well as a large range of other salon colours. The polish I received is a black scattered holographic and it's simply called Black.

Nails of the Day - Spring Flowers

Hey guys!

Today I was planning to do another Easter mani but I ended up not liking the design I had in mind when I practiced it on my practice wheel, so I decided to go for a different design. The one I decided to do is based off of design which was done by my all-time favourite youtube nail artist, .

Now, usually when I am inspired by someone else's design, I try to change it up a bit to make it my own. However, with this design, I loved absolutely everything about it so I just couldn't change it!

Review & Swatches - Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils 15 Year Anniversary Collection

Hey guys!

Sorry I haven't been around the last couple of days but I've been super busy! For example, somehow yesterday's 8 hour work shift (5:30AM - 1:30PM) turned into a 12.5 hour shift (5:30AM - 6:00PM). So when I finally got home, I flopped into bed and didn't get up until 12 hours later. To make the shift worse, I couldn't get to sleep Wednesday night before I had to get up for the shift which meant that I did the whole 12.5 hour shift on absolutely no sleep. I guess you can understand why I slept for 12 hours when I finally got home!

Anyways, I did this post a couple of days ago with the plan to post it on Thursday after work but since that didn't happen, here it is today!

I know this Urban Decay 15th Anniversary set is old news now but not only are we a bit behind the rest of Canada when it comes to new products, I didn't really want to spend the $110 on the set so I decided to save up my Shopper's points so that I could get it at a discounted price. Finally, last weekend I managed to rack up enough points to save $60 off any purchase and I decided that to pay $50 for these liners is definitely a good enough deal for me.

Review & Swatches - Zoya Mod Mattes Collection

Hey guys!

Today I received an order from eBay that I wasn't expecting for another couple of days - I love when that happens! I ordered the Zoya Mod Mattes collection as well as a couple of colours from the Sunshine collection. For anyone else who doesn't have easy access to Zoya polishes, this seller on eBay is AMAZING! Seriously, I've been dealing with her for about a year now and I've had nothing but exceptional service.

Anyway, today I have for you the Zoya Mod Mattes Collection. The collection features 3 limited edition matte shades for summer.

I'm on Facebook! (Plus another way for you to enter my giveaway!)

Hey guys!

Just a quick post to let you all know that I have finally taken the time to set up a Facebook page!

I have really been meaning to do this for a while now but school and other things kept getting in the way so I'm happy that I finally had enough spare time to do this.
As you can see in the sidebar, I've also set up a Facebook feed so that you can see all of my Facebook updates from right here on my blog! You can also "Like" my Facebook page from the sidebar application so I'd love it if you guys would "Like" me! :)

As an added incentive, liking will get you an extra entry in my MEGA 500 Follower Giveaway! Just be sure to leave a comment on the giveaway page letting me know your Facebook username so that I can verify!

I'd also appreciate some extra feedback about what else I could add to the page to make it more interesting/interactive. Any suggestions?

Oh and by the way, I did take all of your advice and I'm working on doing some YouTube tutorials of my nail art! I'm not the best camera woman though so it's taking some getting used to but I'll be sure to let you guys know when I start uploading!

Anyway, I'm off to work now but I'll work on a more interesting post when I come home, haha.

Packaging Comparison - MAC Wonder Woman Lipglass vs. Hard Candy Glossaholic Lipgloss

Hey guys!

Today I have a bit of a different post for you. I haven't been buying much makeup at all lately simply because my money has been going towards new nail polish and new nail polish supplies (ever since I got my professional discount card, I've been having fun at stores that I wasn't allowed to shop in prior to completing my course).

Anyway, I spotted these glosses while on an unrelated trip to Wal-Mart and I knew right away that they were coming home with me.

They're only $5 and if you like nail polish with flakies in them, you'll love these glosses because they have the same type of flakies in them! I didn't think too much of the packaging at first, only that it was a little larger than normal glosses but once I got home and opened them, I realized that I had definitely seen this packaging before - from the MAC Wonder Woman lipglosses!

Easter Nail Art - Egg Hunt

Hey guys!

I hope everyone's weekend is going well!
Today I have another design from my Easter series to show you. I found an image online quite a while ago that inspired me for this one but I don't remember where I found it so I just did what I could based on memory.
I was also pretty rushed doing this mani because I had a manicure appointment this evening and realized that I was running late when I was in the middle of this. So it's not quite as good as I would like it to be because I didn't have time to go back and fix a few small mistakes but I am still happy with the way it turned out.

Upcoming Collections - 4 New Shades for the OPI and Serena Williams Glam Slam! Collection

Hey guys!

Here is yet another press release from OPI showing the 4 new colours that are being released with the OPI and Serena Williams Glam Slam! Collection.
The original duo with Black Shatter and Simply Smashing never did become available in my area (I'm not really sure why since we get all of the other OPI collections here) so I'm hoping that either these new shades will show up here or that I'll be sent samples to show you guys.

Review & Swatches - Milani Rockstar Heavy Glitter Collection

Hey guys!

I finished my final paper of the semester last night so I can now get back to blogging regularly!
Usually I take the summer off to work but this year, because I want to graduate as soon as possible, I've decided to do a summer semester of courses. I'm not really looking forward to it but I know I'll thank myself when I finish my degree in December of this year instead of May of 2012. Nonetheless, I have almost a full month until I start my next semester so I'm excited to be able to post a lot during that time!

Anyways, onto the point of this post: the review and swatches of the Milani Rockstar Heavy Glitter Collection. I know most of you have already seen swatches of this collection as it was available in the US way back in December. However, it only recently showed up here in Newfoundland so that's why I'm way behind everyone else on swatching it. I actually contemplated not swatching it at all since it's old news now but it was just too beautiful of a collection to not swatch. So, here it is, the Milani Rockstar Heavy Glitter Collection.

Nails of the Day - Ice Cream Sundaes

Hey guys!

Today I have a mani that was inspired by a fellow Newfoundlander's recent ice cream nail art. She does a lot of freehand nail art which I really respect and she's very good at it. Here's her design that inspired me:

(Photo posted with her permission)

And a link to her tumblr account so that you can check out her other awesome designs.

I loved the concept but I didn't want to just copy the design so to make it my own, I decided to make the ice cream into ice cream sundaes! I added stripes to make it look like the ice cream was dripping out of a glass and I also decided to add a stem to the cherries to add to the theme of ice cream sundaes. Unfortunately, the design would only work if I faced the glasses inwards (towards me) as opposed to outwards which is not how I usually like to execute my designs. However, I'm still very happy with it how it turned out!

Review & Swatches - OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection: Part 1

Hey guys!

So it turned out that the package from Purolator that I thought was the last package for my giveaway turned out to be a package of samples from the new OPI Spring Collections: Femme de Cirque and Pirates of the Caribbean. I was excited to be able to try these polishes but I was also a little disappointed because I really want to get my giveaway up and running! I promise guys, it's coming!

Anyway, today I have 4 of the 7 polishes from the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection. When the collection is released I'll definitely pick up the other 3 polishes so you can keep an eye out for that sometime in May.

Review & Swatches - Deborah Lippmann Glitter in the Air

Hey guys!
I'm back! And I'm now a certified professional manicurist/pedicurist!

My course was absolutely amazing and I'm SO glad that I decided to do it! I learned so much and hopefully I'll get a chance to share a lot of that knowledge with you guys. :) Unfortunately, taking 3 whole days out of this crucial week in my semester has put me way behind on a lot of school work so I now need to catch up which means that I won't be able to post as much as I would like to in the next week or so. However, my final exam is on the 11th of April so after that I'll be back full force!

Oh and for anyone wondering, I'm still waiting on a package from one more company so that I can get my giveaway up and running. I wasn't at home on Friday and when I finally did get home, there was a door tag from Purolator saying that I missed a package so I'm thinking that that must be the final package. I'll pick that up on Monday so my giveaway should be up early next week.

In the meantime, I did receive a small order this week from Made You Blush which is a great online site that ships brands such as Deborah Lippmann here in Canada. They're customer service is among the best I have ever dealt with so I highly recommend them! I only got a couple of things but what I was most excited about was the new polish by Deborah Lippmann called Glitter in the Air.
